| Fight of the Living Dead Bozeman Fencing Match, 25 Oct 2008 |
|
| We took three fencers from the club to our first USFA match, held in Bozeman. Taryn Hall and Katie Glenn entered the open epee competition while Alex Glenn fenced novice foil. The epee fencers faced some serious competition, with a number of 'E' and 'D' rated fencers in the epee competition. Both Katie and Taryn managed to score a few points despite being heavily outclassed. Alex Glenn won one of his seeding bouts, and scored a victory in his first DE match, despite being paired against a college age fencer. |

Katie was paired up against 'D' rated Jestin Spannring, a wonderful fencer, but so large we took to calling him 'Gigantor'. His physical size was match with speed and ability, making him the man to beat. Katie did manage a couple of touches, which was quite an accomplishment. Afterward, Jestin was kind enough to offer Katie some coaching. Everyone at the match was helpful and supportive. Great people all around.
