| The Helena Fencing Club was formed in August of 2008 to support the sport of fencing in the tri-county area. We are a not for profit association dedicated to teaching and supporting fencing.
Beginning June 9, 2009 the club will be meeting at the Helena YMCA, 1200 Last Chance Gulch, on Tues-Thurs from 6:15-8:30PM, and Sundays from 10:00-12:00PM Suring the summer we will continue "Fencing in the park" at the Memorial Park amphitheater from 10:30-12:00 AM as long as the weather permits. All YMCA members are welcome, and non-members can sign up for classes through the YMCA. Currently, the club has coaches for foil and epee. We are looking for an experienced sabreur who would be willing to teach introductory saber. Our next classes, "Beginning Foil Fencing" and "Begging Epee Fencing" will begin March 2010. These classes lasts 8 weeks and will give the beginner a basic foundation in the fundementals of fencing. The fee is $65 ($45 for YMCA members) and is in lieu of regular membership fees. For more information, send email to info@helenafencing.org, call the Helena YMCA (406) 422-9622, or call the head fencing coach, Tod Glenn, at (406) 461-7283. |
